Our History

We utilize wrestling to build physical, mental, and emotional confidence for all ages of individuals. The Reedsville Wrestling Club seeks to provide each wrestler with training they will use to achieve their dreams, on and off the mat.

1972 - 1984

1985 - 2006

1985 brought two significant changes to Reedsville Wrestling. The first was the creation of the Youth Program under the founding coach Mike Miller. And secondly, the Reedsville Wrestling Club was formed with John Ebert as President.

In 1986, Jeff Schwahn became the program’s first High School State entrant and the first medal, earning 3rd place. 1994 brought Reedsville's first Individual State Tournament Champion in Mike Lodel.

During these years the teams produced:

  • 8 Individual State Qualifiers
  • 4 Individual State Medals
  • 9 Individual Conference Champions

2007 - Present

Don Verbeten took over as Head High School Coach in 2007. Under his leadership, the Reedsville Wrestling Teams have produced:

  • 60 Individual State Qualifiers
  • 28 Individual State Medals
  • 47 Individual Conference Champions

In 2010, the Wrestling Club started the annual Casino Night Fundraiser. The Reedsville community generously gives back to our club and we are very grateful for that each and every year.

2011 brought our second State Champion - Austin Ebert at 171 pounds.

In 2013, the team won their first Olympian Conference Team Championship. The team consisted of: Mitch Schwahn, Jordan Ebert, Rene Mora, Colby Kasten, Grant Wedepohl, Elliott Ebert, Tyler Schuh, Andrew Kocourek, Allen Schultz, Mason Loose, Lance Brandt, and Jordan Brandt.

Grant Wedepohl became Reedsville's third State Champion in 2014 at 170 pounds.

In 2022, we started the Cubs program to get 3-5 year old athletes interested in the sport of wrestling.
