There is a winter sports sign up sent out to all 5-12th graders through the school district. The sign up occurs in rSchool, the activity registration website. Here is a Google Doc with information about how to sign up.
If you have any questions about the wrestling program, please contact one of the coaches listed below.
Tight fitting t-shirt with tight fitting leggings, sweatpants, or shorts. Wrestling shoes and a headgear are required for practice. If your child has braces they will be required to wear a mouth guard.
Practice begins at 3:30 and concludes at 5:30. We begin each practice with stretching, mobility, and agility exercises, then transition into technique. We ensure our wrestlers are in top physical conditioning by incorporating live wrestling, cardio training, and strength training throughout the week to ensure we peek for our competitions.
Cutting weight is not a requirement, in fact, most wrestlers don't have to worry about it. There are 14 weight classes. We look at the weights of our wrestlers to find the best spot for them. If two wrestlers are at a similar weight they will compete against each other in practice to determine the varsity spot. We follow all WIAA rules for weight cutting, which includes a skin fold test at the beginning of the year to determine the maximum amount of weight a wrestler can lose. Each wrestler's health and mental well-being is our number one priority through the season. If a wrestler is cutting weight, our coaching and training staff work closely with our wrestlers. We provide nutrition and workout advice to make sure each wrestler has the necessary support.
